Bobby Cutchins

Bobby Cutchins

Born and raised in North Carolina by parents who were morticians, Bobby grew up in the public eye and was exposed to music at an early age. With his older brother, Joe B., his younger sister, Gwendolyn, and two family friends, his first band, The Majestics, was born when he was 14 years old.

Bobby began as a drummer but always knew he had the talent to sing. When he went away to Saint Augustine's College, he sang lead with a group called The Mellow Kings and played drums with a band called Gene Scott & The Twilighters.

During the summer of his sophomore year of college, Bobby toured Canada with Gene Scott & The Twilighters. While there, the singer became ill. Bobby knew his show and one of the horn players could play drums. "The Show Must Go On", and indeed, it did! Bobby enjoyed singing out front so much he stopped playing drums altogether when he returned to The States. He's been singing since then and loving it. There is nothing like the connection between a singer and the audience. It is addictive.

Bobby lived in Philadelphia when Philadelphia was the music capital of the world. He was fortunate enough to know some very influential people in the music industry who gave him the encouragement and a platform from which to display his talent. He was also fortunate enough to have John Edwards for his songwriting partner, Yvette and Angela Davis for his backup singers, Gene Leone for his recording engineer and the MFSB Family for the orchestra on his Lasso recording sessions.

There was a period that Bobby was away from actively participating in his passion, however. Married and the father of two lovely daughters, he chose to be at home during their formative years. He recorded a few songs that were released regionally in the USA as well as in many European countries.

His following is basically in Europe. You can Google Bobby Cutchins and get an idea how well his music does in other countries.

Bobby's advice to young artists and those who desire to be in the music business is to live your dream and follow your heart, but be wise about it. Learn about the business of music as well as the art of music. Realize that you must survive until your dream is a reality, so work and network. Meet as many people in the industry as you can. Remember that music is one of the most competitive fields that you can become involved in, so be honest with yourself. You either have IT or you don't. "Break A Leg"!!!!
